Hope House –November Focus
The mission of the Hope House is to end homelessness and create healthy communities. It also provides outreach to individuals needing health care, food distribution, financial assistance and educational opportunities to adults and children.
Thank you to those of you who have turned in your stewardship card for 2018. As of today’s date, we have received 35 pledge cards for a total dollar amount of $109,686. We are asking those of you who haven’t turned them in yet to please do so within the next two weeks. This will allow us to put together our budget with realistic numbers. Please note, someone from the stewardship/finance committee will follow-up with you if you haven’t turned in your card to see if there are any questions/concerns we can answer. These calls will be made sometime the first or second week in December. Let’s all live fearlessly as we move into 2018.
Blessings, – Your Stewardship Team
“The M&M (music and munchies) choir will re-form during the Advent & Christmas Season. We will meet two times and perform on Christmas Eve. Rehearsals will be no more than one hour following the 10:00 service December 3, and December 10. Any interested youth are encouraged to attend the first rehearsal. If you are unable to make it but would like to be involved, please email Angie Bier email@example.com“
LADIES AND LIPSTICK
Please, this is a reminder for ladies to ‘blot their lips’ before taking the wine at Communion. The newer lipsticks are leaving a hard to remove stain on the altar linens, when we wipe the chalice, after serving wine at Communion. We kindly ask you to become mindful about the lipstick please.
Thank you, – Altar Guild
ENVELOPES FOR CHRISTMAS FLOWERS
We are collecting the Christmas Flower Offering at the end of November. Please place your Flower Offering envelopes in the Collection plate on Sunday or leave it in the office on the counter, or send it to the office by mail. Making sure you properly identify this as your “Christmas FLOWER Offering” on the envelopes. Deadline for returning envelopes is December 17th. We are doing this “earlier than usual” to have a more accurate budget of what to spend on Flowers for Christmas and to have everyone’s name listed in the Bulletin for the Christmas Flower Offering. We have spare envelopes on the Narthex table as well as in the office.
Giving Tree 2017
Our focus for the Giving Tree this year is Hope House. (For a description of the work they do, please see this month’s edition of the Tales.) Here are the items they are most in need of. Winter clothing: coats, hats, scarves and gloves. (All clothing must be in clean and good condition, not necessarily new. Please, no stained, torn, or excessively worn items.)
Personal Hygiene: Soap, Shampoo, Deodorant, Feminine hygiene items, Toothbrush, Toothpaste, and Floss. Collections will be accepted from Nov. 19 through Dec. 17. A bin will be available in the coat room during that time. If leaving a coat, please hang it to the back of the rack – farthest from the doorway – and use one of the markers provided in the envelope on the bin to identify it as a donation.
Thank you and God bless you for all you do for others in their need. – The Outreach Committee.
