Community OutreachCommunity Reach

Haiti Project—MAY Focus

The focus agency for May is the Haiti Project.  Outreach contributions are welcome using your blue pledge envelopes, writing a check to St. Thomas of Canterbury and putting “Outreach” on the memo line, or through your electronic transfer account. The Haiti Project is a partnership between the Milwaukee Episcopal Diocese and St. Marc’s Episcopal Church, School, Clinic and Agricultural program in Jeanette, Haiti.  It is an attempt to put our abilities, wealth, spirituality and time to work for people who are unfortunately living in one of the most chaotic places on earth; and to try to make a long term difference in their lives.   Please keep the people of Jeanette in your prayers.

Food & Item Donations

STOC continues to collect food and other donations that support St. Alphonsus, St. James, Guest House & the Hospitality Center.  If you would like to donate additional items please label your contribution with your preference of ministry and donations will be distributed.  If you are donating food items please do not use the outside drop box, food donations should be left inside the church.  For more information please contact the church office at  414-421-0130.  Thank you….Outreach

Prayer Alert

Prayer

Your Vision Team asks that you take a “leaf” of faith and pray with us, and for us, as we continue to listen to God’s voice and discern His path for our parish family through the power of the Holy Spirit!  Leaves of Prayer can be found in the Narthex by the Vision Team bulletin board.  Thank you!!

Communion Class Celebration

Communion Celebration

On Sunday, June 12, 2016, we will celebrate the completion of their Communion Class with the children setting the “Table of the Lord” before the 9:00am Service.

They will receive their certificates of completion of “This Bread & This Cup” at the end of the Eucharist Service.

On June 12, 2016, I would like the children at church early 8:15-8:30am, as they will finish setting the Altar for the Celebration of the Eucharist!  They are to come to the Sanctuary/Sacristy.

A special “Thank You” to the parents for making this happen.  Noelle Gehlhaart

Summer Schedule

summer-schedule

Our Summer Service schedule begins on Sunday, May 29th with one service at 9AM.  As that is the 5th Sunday in the month, it will be a Morning Prayer service. After that, we’re doing something a little different this year.  Because we get so many visitors and newcomers who try us out in the summer, we want to be as welcoming as possible. To those not raised with our liturgy, it’s a challenging enough task to follow along, without also trying to decipher the language of Rite I. In an effort to be more comfortable to anyone who may be looking for a new church home, we are making Rite II our primary worship service this summer.  Since we also value our members who are most comfortable worshiping using Rite I, however, we’ll be celebrating Rite I on the 3rd Sunday of each month- June 19th, July 17th, and August 21st. We will keep the Summer schedule through Labor Day weekend, and will resume with two services on September 11th.

Volunteer Opportunity

Volunteer

The Greendale Health Department is looking for volunteers to participate in a mock emergency response to a bioterrorism attack. The event will be on Tuesday, June 14th 10:30 AM-12 Noon in Franklin.  It will be a test of local public health agencies’ ability to conduct a mass clinic to distribute antibiotics to 100% of their residents within 48 hours of the incident.  You would be participating as a patient walking through stations at the mass clinic as we practice determining the right antibiotic for you.  No personal information needs to be shared; you can give fictitious data to our screeners.

It will be the second largest activity of its kind in our nation’s history, and will involve hospitals, ambulance services, health departments and emergency medicine providers from Fond du Lac down to Kenosha.

Please call the Greendale Health Department 414-423-2110 or email Sue Callison RN at scallison@greendale.org if you would need more information or would like to sign up for this exciting and worthwhile event.
